With a guitar Christmas present from grandad and her bedroom space in Norway, 16-year-old Marie Ulven had all the motivation she could get to begin the creation of her original song writings, an inborn talent that in a few years, would lead her to become a globally recognized Norwegian indie-pop and rockstar.
After going viral with her now US gold-certified and award-winning single, “i wanna be your girlfriend” in 2016, the young singer-songwriter paved her way to fame, taking the ‘girl in red’ as her stage appellation. It is noteworthy to note that this brilliant, queer singer, with her terrific lyrics and productions, didn’t get signed to a record label until late 2019, after the “we fell in love in october” star had already produced successful singles including the well-known, “girls,” ” dead girl in the pool.,” “I need to be alone,” alongside more top most popular tracks from her compilation album, Beginnings with the EPs Chapter 1 and 2.
